After coming out of lockdown and feeling as though I had changed, I decided to have a post-lockdown photo shoot.  On a cool day, at the beginning of August, I headed off to Ashbourne to meet brand photographer Suzanne Fells.

I had chosen the four outfits that I felt represented the new me.  After spending months at my computer making my services available on-line, my clothes have become more relaxed and a little looser.  I now need clothes that are comfortable to sit in for several Zoom meetings a day.

Going through my wardrobe I realised that I'm unlikely to wear the fitted corporate style dresses I previously wore when working with clients.  They feel rather restrictive plus a little too snug after lockdown.  These outgrown dresses have been replaced by tops and trousers, jersey and looser dresses.  Shoes now have lower heels as I'm not out and about so much and even jewellery has become smaller and more layered.

If you're thinking about a post lockdown shoot, consider what you want to say with each photo and plan your outfits around it.  Each outfit will convey a message about you and your business.  Maybe your business has evolved and you want to show how you have grown. Think about the way you have changed and list the words that you want to express with regard to your business.  Take photographs of yourself wearing the outfits to ensure that you're happy with each look.

Go through your outfits and try and bring in a different colour to each photo as this will give variety and be more interesting to the viewer.  A photoshoot is a large investment and it's cost effective to be able to use the photos on many social media platforms.  Also consider your brand colours to ensure that your outfits in the photographs look in harmony and don't clash with your branding colours.  Colour Analysis is a great way of discovering which colours enhance our own colouring and skin tone.  This gives a selection of thirty colours with which to build our outfits and these will all work together in harmony.  From our own palette of colours we can then decide which will work best with our brand colours.

If we have changed since lockdown then new photographs will show our new style or the evolution of our business.  Our photographs should show an authentic version of ourselves ensuring that when we meet potential clients in person or on-line, we look like the same person.  I wanted my photos to be a true representative of myself and my business and was very pleased when a recent client said you're just like your photograph!

I really enjoy working with photographer Suzanne Fells as she totally understands my business and makes me feel relaxed in front of the camera.  In the past I've worked with photographers who haven't made me feel relaxed and this was clear in the photos as I didn't express the same energy.  When choosing a photographer, I would suggest that you have a good chat with them to make certain that they totally understand your business and what you want to portray.  This way you will feel comfortable and be more at ease in front of the camera.

A new exciting chapter is beginning and we've all developed and learned much during lockdown.  Recently I've been helping several clients to prepare outfits for photoshoots to make certain that they will be proud to show off their new photographs on many social media platforms.  If you'd like to discuss how I could help you with your photoshoot or to choose your best colours, please just get in touch and I look forward to hearing from you,

Suzanne x
